Art Exhibition – Anne Moats
If you are at the Sierra Vista Campus at Cochise College, please check out the exhibition currently up in the Library Commons, featuring Bisbee fiber artist ANNE MOATS! And for anyone interested – Anne will be giving a presentation on her work on Wednesday, September 14 at 9:15 a.m. in SVC ART 410 – All are welcome!
Anne spent most of her adult life as a scientist during the day and closet quilter at night in Albuquerque, but now calls the Southern Arizona “sky island” of Bisbee home, where she creates art full-time. Most of her work is representational, depicting landscapes and wildlife that she’s surrounded by. She’s especially drawn towards subjects that are not classically attractive – such as disintegrating structures, ruins, and creatures/critters that you might see as pests. Anne’s work has been included in numerous regional and national traveling exhibitions, including Studio Art Quilt Association’s (SAQA) “Dusk to Dawn,” the regional exhibit “Life Along the Rio Grande,” the SAQA virtual exhibit “Bugmania,” and at the Santa Fe Capitol, “Made in New Mexico: Structural Diversity.” Anne is also a part of an artist’s group called “4 Common Corners,” which frequently exhibits in the Southwest region.
